Who does Miley Cyrus think she is? Let’s get one thing straight(ish): this is not a cabaret or a fucking sing-a-long. And it’s not just for the fans. It’s a psycho-trash coming-of-age story told by the artist formerly known as Hannah Montana, who finds herself alone and tripping in a beige hotel room, after leaving behind twenty-thousand glitter-streaked fans on stage. As she falls down a psychedelic rabbit hole, she confronts the question that she just can’t shake: when are we really ourselves? Who are we in an age of broadcasted identity?
Part-musical, part-physical theatre, Can’t Be Tamed is a 3am, greened-out D’n’M on the nature of persona, performance and identity... only with Miley Cyrus as your spirit guide.
Can't Be Tamed will be presented as part of the 2016 Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Performances 16, 17, 18, 20, 21 and 22 September at The Warehouse in the Melbourne Fringe Hub. More information coming soon.
